This volume is a comprehensive guide to research on the American composer
Elliott Carter. It contains a fully annotated bibliography, a
detailed discography, and a complete list of works, as well as
appendices. The bibliography includes video recordings and interviews in
addition to books and articles. A separate section on Carter's own
writings is arranged alphabetically by title. All sources are fully
annotated with a description of the their contents and relevance to Carter
research. The discography includes a wealth of information about date of
recording, personnel, and credits for production, engineering, and liner
notes. The works list includes separate sections on works presumed lost or
destroyed, juvenilia and unpublished works in manuscript, and published
